Hanban is best known as the Confucius Institute Headquarters, a public institution affiliated with the Chinese Ministry of Education and is committed to providing Chinese language and cultural teaching resources and services worldwide. The organization drives policy, evaluation and programing for the promotion of learning Chinese language and culture partnering with educational institutions across the globe building global citizenry.
AIBE has partnered with Hanban to provide one of three testing centers in Michigan where school districts can have their students take the institution’s international standardized test of Chinese language proficiency. The YCT assessment is geared to younger students for the purpose of using the language in their daily and academic lives. This tool can be used as a method for assessing Chinese language training in US schools, evaluating training results and serve as a benchmark for students who want to prepare for taking the HSK test. The HSK assessment focuses on the language abilities of the older student and adult interested in learning for social, academic, study abroad and, possibly, employment purposes.
